It was the romance Gen Z hoped would never end, but alas, all good things have to be: Tana Mongeau and Jake Paul are going their separate ways, and it’s official on Instagram.
On her 21st birthday in June, Mongeau officially announced that she was engaged to fellow YouTuber Jake Paul and that their wedding was imminent. In one of the fastest turnarounds in engagement history, Mongeau and Paul celebrated their wedding the following month with great fanfare, claiming the marriage wasn’t real and fought at the altar to crown the all.
The couple announced the breakup via the Instagram grid post late last night, in addition to a few articles on the divorce. One of Mongeau’s closest friends, Imari Stuart, also commented on the situation in the best way an influencer can in these trying times: with a special TikTok on Divorced Parents!
It is not clear whether or not the relationship is over in a defined sense, as Mongeau’s post keeps it vague but straightforward. The basic fact is that the couple is take a break, but they are happy to remain friends. Both seem to have a good sense of humor about the unfortunate situation, so fans are taking the news pretty well; in Mongeau’s words, “Here is 2020, working on us, and my new Lamborghini since I get half of everything!”
