Disney has announced that the documentary series “Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakerswill be coming to Disney+ in Australia and New Zealand in August.

This new series captures the remarkable rise and unprecedented success of one of the most dominant and iconic franchises in professional sports. Offering exclusive access to the Buss family and in-depth, revealing interviews with players, coaches and front office executives, this 10-part documentary series tells this extraordinary story from the inside – told only by the people who know it. have lived. When charismatic real estate magnate Dr. Jerry Buss bought the Los Angeles Lakers in an extremely risky and complex business transaction, no one could have predicted the success to come. Launching the “Showtime” era in 1979, the famous LA playboy pioneered basketball. He raised the price of floor seats, introduced dancers and a live band, opened an exclusive private club inside the arena, and cultivated famous fans in Hollywood. Over the past 40 years, the team has won 11 titles and retired the jerseys of some of the NBA’s most legendary players.

Lakers CEO and majority owner Jeanie Buss is producing the series alongside director Antoine Fuqua. Other executive producers include Kevin Mann, Michael Mann and Brendan Bragg of Haven Entertainment, Jeffrey Soros and Simon Horsman of the Los Angeles Media Fund (LAMF) and longtime Lakers senior executive Linda Rambis. Rounding out the team are Emmy Award-winning editors Jake Pushinsky and executive producer/writer Steven Leckart.

The highly anticipated 10-part docuseries, “Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers,” of LakersCEO and majority owner Jeanie Buss and Emmy-winning director Antoine Fuqua, will premiere Monday, August 15, 2022, with two episodes on Disney+ in Australia, New Zealand and Canada. It will also be released on Hulu in the United States. New episodes will be released weekly thereafter.
