Actor Nitish Bharadwaj, who is known for playing the role of Lord Krishna in BR Chopra’s Mahabharat, has confirmed his separation from his wife after 12 years of marriage. Nitish’s ex-wife is an IAS officer, named Smita Gate.
Nitish revealed that he filed for separation from his wife in September 2019 and the verdict has yet to be released. Their divorce petition has been pending in a family court in Mumbai ever since. Smita currently lives in Indore with the ex-couple’s two daughters.
Without revealing the details of what caused a rift in their relationship, Nitish said divorce can be a painful affair. Of the separation from his wife of 12 years, he told ETimes, “I don’t want to get into why we separated. The case is in court right now. All I can say is that sometimes divorce can be more painful than death because you are living with an amputated core.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, Nitish Vishnu Puran’s show was also aired on TV. Based on an ancient collection of stories and scriptures, the 2000 show, starring Nitish as Lord Vishnu, aims to convey some interesting life lessons.
About the institution of marriage, Nitish said, “I’m a big believer in the institution, but I’ve been unlucky. Generally, the reasons for a marriage breaking down can be endless, sometimes it’s because of an intransigent attitude or a lack of compassion.or it could be the result of ego and self-centered thinking. But it is the children who suffer the most when a family breaks down. so it’s up to parents to make sure there’s a minimum of collateral damage their children have to suffer.”
When asked if he is in contact with his two daughters during this period of separation from his wife, Nitish chose to reserve his remarks. The actor also starred in Sushant Singh Rajput’s starring Kedarnath where he played the role of Sara Ali Khan’s on-screen father.
